Complete text of President-elect Barack Obama acceptance speech

November 5th, 2008 admin Posted in Google Trends, Uncategorized 1 Comment »

Here is the complete text of President-elect Barack Obama acceptance speech. If Obama’s acceptance speech could be graded on a scale of 10, I’d give it a 7. This is simply because the event itself is so momentous that try as you might words cannot do justice to what this election has already meant for America. And somehow I felt Obama’s speech lacked zing. Obama’s speech was inclusive in its ambit and spoke about all sections of society. He extended a warm offer of working together to his republican rivals.

The crux of Obama’s speech was how America has chosen to be different this time. It followed a predictable path of thanking all involved, from the people, to his family - his wife Michelle and his daughters Sasha and Malia and a mention of a puppy for the cuteness effect. He thanked his campaign manager David Plouffe and his chief strategist David Axelrod.

Check John McCain’s concession speech. It touched a chord with me and I liked it more.

Complete text of Sen. John McCain’s concession speech

November 5th, 2008 admin Posted in Google Trends 1 Comment »

Here’s the complete text of Sen. John McCain’s concession speech. The historic November 2008 elections have decided the President-elect of the United States and the losing candidate Senator John McCain has done his party and his supporters proud with an eloquent concession speech. Sen. John McCain’s concession speech delivered in Phoenix Arizona carried a dignified tone and warm commendations for the winner Barack Obama.

McCain was effusive in his praise of Obama and specifically mentioned his rival’s ability to motivate so many people to vote for him. A beautiful aspect of the speech was McCain referring to Obama as “my president”. He made it a point to offer his condolences for the demise of Obama’s grandmother.

Another touching feature of the speech was the respect of the audience that McCain commanded. They were with their candidate in his moment of loss and were willing to share the blame for not being able to see him across. McCain’s speech has gained him widespread admiration and those who have followed the US elections over the years are calling it one of the most gracious concession speeches ever.

Exit Polls 2008 and Young Voter Turnout Favor an Obama Win

November 4th, 2008 admin Posted in Google Trends No Comments »

The latest exit polls for the November 2008 presidential elections in the USA conducted by various agencies such as Survey USA, Rasmussen Reports, CNN, ARG, Strategic Vision, Research 2000, etc have all placed Obama as leading McCain by fair margins. In states such as New York and Illinois Obama has a runaway lead over the GOP presidential candidate.

Another factor favoring Obama is that the young voter turnout in the 2008 elections is highly pro-Democratic party. The Dems have increased their young voter base in almost all states by a staggering amount. Compared to 2004 when there were 1,110,806 voters for the Dems in the age-group of 18-29, the figures for 2008 are projected to be 4,963,587. This is a 500% increase in voter base.

Comparable 2004 and 2008 figures for the Republicans are 1,236,293 for 2004 and 1,769,213.

Election Propositions and Their Fate

November 4th, 2008 admin Posted in Google Trends No Comments »

Here are interesting pieces of information in PDFs on proposition 1, proposition 2, proposition 3, and California Proposition. As the nation of America votes today it would be worthwhile to know what the state of California and the country feels about these election 2008 propositions.

Proposition 1 relates to bringing environmentally preferred high-speed trains and high-speed rail bonds to the state of California; this proposition has more pros than cons for it. It will reduce California’s dependence on foreign oil and the emission of greenhouse gases.

Proposition 2 relates to certain conformation standards for farm animals. This initiative requires that farm animals and birds be allowed to stretch their limbs and wings and in general be given greater space. This proposition could lead to a decrease in local and state tax revenue from farm businesses.

Proposition 3 is about a statewide bond of $980 million for modernizing and expanding the children hospitals in the state. The issue of bond debt for such a huge amount has Californians divided on the issue.

California propositions are on the top of the mind of California voters and the ACLU is doing its bit to influence voters on issues that they should push for or oppose.

Florida Constitutional Amendments for November 2008 Elections

November 3rd, 2008 admin Posted in Google Trends No Comments »

The PDF below contains a detailed summary of Florida amendments for the 2008 presidential elections. There are nine amendments proposed to the state constitution and these cover a gamut of issues ranging from banning gay marriages and the funding of public education institutions.

The repealing of the “Alien Land” Law would surely be a step in the right direction. In Florida aliens ineligible for citizenship are not allowed to own land, the proposed amendment would do away with the legislature’s right to regulate and prohibit property ownership by aliens, for example Mexicans and Asians. Most American states have repealed such laws but the state of Florida is yet to do so.

The amendment proposes a constitutional ban on gay marriages and intends to define a marriage only in terms of a legal union between a man and a woman. A welcome amendment would be the tax exemption of improvements done on residential property for energy efficiency and windstorm protection.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy or SMA is a Debilitating Disease

October 5th, 2008 admin Posted in Google Trends No Comments »

SMA or Spinal Muscular Atrophy is not a single disease but a name given to a group of genetic disorders that cause the wasting of muscles. The disorder is traced to loss of motor neurons in the spinal cord and brainstem.

Without motor neurons, the brain cannot deliver signals to the muscles. Unable to fully use them, the muscles of a person with SMA will waste away. The larger muscles closer to the body - such as the hip and shoulder muscles - may be more affected than the smaller muscles of the hands and feet, and usually the legs are weaker than the arms. Muscles in the face and throat may experience weakness as well. Depending on what type of SMA a person has, there may also be a loss of reflexes. In the more serious cases of the disorder, the muscles responsible for breathing and
swallowing may be severely affected. Continue reading about Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Bill Ayers, American Terrorist and Friend of Barack Obama

October 5th, 2008 admin Posted in Google Trends 1 Comment »

The heat is getting whiter on Senator Obama as his Republican opponents are now question his connections with Bill Ayers; the guy who took credit for a wave of bombings in the US in the 60s including explosions set off at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol. Those with an interest in history or those who were around then will remember that William Ayers was one of the founding members of the Weather Underground. This was a left-wing group not afraid to take to terrorist activities. Bill Ayers is a professor of Education at the University of Illinois but back then he shouted slogans like “Kill all rich people… kill your parents, bring home the revolution”.

Obama has worked with groups linked to Bill Ayers and in my opinion with his leftist leanings and “Hussein” as his middle name (which he tries to suppress), this guy is as important to America as a walk in the desert is to a dehydrated man. Continue reading about Bill Ayers

Is Obama a Stooge of George Soros

October 5th, 2008 admin Posted in Google Trends No Comments »

Have come across this great piece that tells us what quite a lot of Americans did actually wonder about. How did Obama get the Democratic candidacy ahead of the more popular Hillary. Apparently, the big sugar daddies of all left-wing politicians in America George Soros put his might behind Obama. The guy may be “only” the 99th richest man in the world but it looks like the man who broke the back of the Bank of England is playing for very big stakes and all his experience of speculation is being put to use here.

The ongoing 2008 Presidential election represents Soros’ importation of the techniques he has utilized for popular subversion in foreign lands to the U.S. political process. MoveOn.org, an organization hugely funded by George Soros, played a central role in Barack Obama’s capture of the Democratic nomination, despite Hillary Clinton’s clear superiority in the popular vote. Although positioned as a pro-Obama instrument long before, as of February of 2008, MoveOn officially backed Obama’s campaign, sending him an army of “volunteers” and an established money machine and fundraising base. As Lyndon LaRouche has repeatedly warned, Obama himself is a throwaway in the financial oligarchy’s plan to capture the Presidency of the United States under conditions of economic collapse. He was promoted to destroy the Clinton candidacy and its potential for a Rooseveltian solution to the financial collapse. Continue reading
